Some Favorite Books

A couple of our favorite books right now.  The Old Woman Who Named Things is a wonderful story about an old woman who refuses to name anything she will outlive, including the cute little dog that comes to visit her everyday.  Great story for little kids with actual DEPTH.  Also, Gail Gibbons is a great resource for non-fiction writing -- she has great illustrations and simple, interesting explantions.  Her Monach Butterfly book is pictured.  The Country Bunny is a story my Mom and Dad read to me as a child about the Easter Bunny and I just rediscovered it.  It is a wonderful story!  And 999 Tadpoles is a new one for us -- just a funny, tongue in cheek froggie adventure with interesting illustrations.

And our current favorite -- Tadpole promise.  The story begins with a catepillar and a tadpole falling in love....and the catepillar says to the tadpole -- 'Don't ever change!'  You can imagine that it's a hard promise to keep.  Such a fun story :)
